Martha Wainwright – Factory Lyrics
These are not my people,
I should never have come here.
The chick with a dick and the gift for the gab.
I know a place.
I’ve seen a face.
I’ll take the coast from factory to factory
ah….
These nights that I’ve been all alone and,
through my window the moonlight she shone
and ah, on my walls the fire she danced
playing out my very last chance to
run, run, run, run.
Don’t look back, you’re moving fast…
I know a place.
I’ve seen a face.
I’ll take the coast from factory to factory
ah…
And there are millions and millions of people around.
On my TV, walking my streets, making sounds.
And I can walk with them I, I love them I need them, I…
But there are others I have known as poor souls, sores exposed
through the run-of-the-mill, the destitute, and the cold
and ah,
sores exposed to the blisters and shards,
where any kind of kindness is as far as the sun,
the sun, the sun, the sun.
Run, run, run, run.
I know a place.
I’ve seen a face.
And I’ll take the call from factory to factory,
ah yeah.
Oh yeah.
Run, run.
These are not my people,
I should never have come here.
Oh I know a place,
I’ve seen a face.
I’ll take the high road from factory to factory.
Ahhhh yeah.
Robots in Disguise - Turn It Up Lyrics I woke up weak today and needing your voice.
Crawled into the speakers and turned up the volume.
Felt so sick today, but cured by your noise.
My head in the speakers is drowning out volumes.

Dance into the speakers, and max up the volume.
Feel so high tonight and moved by my feet.
My heart in the speakers, is loving the volume.
In ‘Pretty Vacant’ I’m jumping jumping.
In ‘Pretty Vacant’ I’m moving moving.
In ‘Teaches Of Peaches’ I’m speeding speeding.

The black and white photograph “Candy Darling on her Deathbed” taken by Peter Hujar, was used on the cover for Antony and the Johnson’s “I Am a Bird Now” album. Candy Darling (November 24, 1944 - March 21, 1974) was a transsexual who starred in two Andy Warhol films. On her deathbed, she wrote the following letter meant for Warhol and his followers, “Unfortunately before my death I had no desire left for life. I am just so bored by everything. You might say bored to death. Did you know I couldn’t last? I always knew it. I wish I could meet you all again.” Her picture was also used as the album cover for The Smiths single, “Sheila Take a Bow” and she is referenced in Lou Reed’s 1972 song, Walk on the Wild Side: “Candy came from out on the island. In the backroom she was everybody’s darling. But she never lost her head, even when she was given head. She says, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side.” She is also referred to in The Velvet Underground song, “Candy Says”, as well as Morissey’s song in reference to her last letter, “You Know I Couldn’t Last”.
Antony and the Johnsons - Hope There’s Someone
from I Am a Bird Now, 2005
Antony and the Johnsons - Hope There’s Someone Lyrics
Hope there’s someone who’ll take care of me
when I die, will I go?
Hope there’s someone who’ll set my heart free.
Nice to hold, when I’m tired.
There’s a ghost on the horizon
When I go to bed, how can I fall asleep at night?
How will I rest my head?
Oh, I’m scared of the middle place between light and nowhere.
I don’t want to be the one, left in there.
Left in there.
There’s a man on the horizon.
Wish that I’d go to bed.
If I fall to his feet tonight, will allow, rest my head.
So here’s hoping I will not drown or paralyze in light.
And godsend I don’t want to go, to the seal’s watershed.
Hope there’s someone who’ll take care of me
when I die, will I go?
Hope there’s someone who’ll set my heart free.
Nice to hold, when I’m tired.
